If you don’t have a playlist for your YouTube videos then this method will not work. So select a progression of your videos and create a playlist. Make sure the videos are in the correct order. After you do this, keep the URL of the playlist open in a tab of your browser and log into your LearnDash site. Now follow the steps below to create a LearnDash course outline from your YouTube playlist.

Step 1: Open the LearnDash course creation wizard

After you log in to the backend dashboard of your WordPress site, go to LearnDash > Courses. Now from the top right corner, you’re going to see a button called “Create from Video Playlist”. Click on it to move on to the next step.

Step 2: Paste the URL of your YouTube playlist

In the next step, you’ll find an input field where you can place the URL. So copy your YouTube playlist URL and paste it into the input field. As soon as you paste the URL, the button right beside it will change to “Load data from YouTube”.

It will detect whether the playlist is from YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. After you paste the URL, simply click on “Load data from YouTube”. Make sure you’re pasting the URL of the playlist and not a video.

Step 3: Select course access settings

Now the course title will be the same as your playlist title. The number of lessons will be the same as the number of videos on the playlist.

Since this will create a completely new course, you’ll also have to select the access settings. Whether you want the course to be open, free, paid, recurring payment, etc. Select the option that you want and then move on.

You can also select if students can interact with the lesson content in “Linear form” or “Free form”. In the free form, the user can go through any lesson they want without following any order. In the Linear form, the users will have to progress through the course lessons sequentially.

So select the option that you think is best for the course and click on the “Create the course” button to create your course.

Step 4: Do final edits

Your course will now be created but won’t be public. After the course is created, you’ll be brought to your courses section. Find your new course and click on edit. You’ll find all the lessons with your video titles.

See if all the videos are in order. If you find the order isn’t right, you can drag and drop it into the correct order. The video description of each video will be presented in their respective lessons. Delete or edit those texts. Then add in your video URL or design the course the way you want.

Now you have the freedom to create a LearnDash course the way you want. So add more topics within the lessons (if required), add quizzes, videos, images, etc. Just design the course the way you want now.

After you make your final edits, click on the “Publish” button to publish your course.
