Tutor LMS gives you some options through which you can manage your students and also track their progress. The options that we’re mainly talking about are as follows:
- Manual student enrollment or dismissal
- Checking students’ progress in courses
You can manually enroll students to courses and also cancel their enrollment easily. It’s also possible to check a student’s progress and see how they’re performing. In this post, we will mainly see how you can manage your students through these two options.
Enabling addons
The first thing that we have to do is enabling the addons that will assist us in student management. From your WordPress admin dashboard go to Tutor LMS Pro > Addons and enable the following addons:
- Enrollment
- Reports
- Gradebook
Note: If you see a padlock icon on the addons, or if you cannot enable the addons, that means you’re using the free version of Tutor LMS. Make sure that you have Tutor LMS Pro installed and activated so that you can enable the addons.
Once you’ve enabled the addons, refresh the page (F5) or simply click on another option and you’ll see the Enrollment, Reports, and Gradebook options added inside the Tutor LMS Pro menu in your WordPress admin dashboard.
If you’re wondering why you should get Tutor LMS Pro, then this is a good reason. With Tutor LMS Pro you can create professional courses. You will be able to add advanced quizzes to your courses and monetize your courses easily.
Manually enrolling students to free courses
The Enrollment addon allows you to manually enroll students to courses. But the process can vary for free and paid courses. First we are going to see how you can manually enroll students to a free course. From your WordPress admin dashboard go to Tutor LMS Pro > Enrollment. Here you can see all your students and which courses they are enrolled in. You can also view the status of the enrollment. Then click on the “Enroll a student” button.
First you have to choose a course. Then you can select which student(s) you want to include in that course.
After adding the student(s), click on the “Enroll Students” button. Now the students will be enrolled in the selected course. When students visit their dashboard, they can find the course added there.
That is how you can manually enroll students to free courses.
Manually enrolling students to a paid course
It is also possible to manually enroll students to paid courses. To do this, go to the Enrollment section described in the previous step. Then choose the paid course in which you want to manually enroll your students. Then you’ll see “Payment Status”, a new option that you didn’t see during the free course enrollment.
These option means:
- Paid: Student has already paid for the course and when you enroll the student, they will be able to take this course.
- Unpaid: Students haven’t paid for the course and will have the option to pay for it from their personal dashboard once manually enrolled.
You can choose the paid option in case you’ve manually received the payment from a student or you want them to take the course for free.
You can choose the unpaid option if you want students to pay for this course. If you choose this option, and click on the “Enroll Students” button, an order will be generated for this course.
You can view this order by going to the Tutor LMS Pro > Orders section. Students will also be able to view the course in their Order History section of their personal dashboards. It you’ve added any payment methods (PayPal, Stripe, etc.), students will be able to pay for the course using those payment methods.
These are the two methods of manually enrolling students to free or paid courses. Using the Enrollment feature you can see the enrollment status of the students.

Cancelling student enrollments
You’ll also be able to cancel the enrollment of students from this section. All you need to do is select the student whose enrollment you want to cancel. Then from the Bulk Action dropdown, select the Cancel action and click on the Apply button.
You will once again see a “Proceed with caution” message. Once you click on the “Yes, I’m sure” button, that student or students will have their enrollment cancelled. Now the status of that student will be changed to “Cancelled”.
Although you have cancelled the student’s enrollment, it’s still possible to re-enroll that student to the course. To do this click on the “Cancelled” tab located on the top right corner of the screen.
From this section you can select the student and then from the Bulk Action bar you can choose Approve to re-enroll the student to the respective course. Again, you can choose “Delete Permanently” to remove the student from the course permanently.
Student progress in reports
You can also take a look at students’ progress in the Gradebook. It’s also possible to check up on how students are doing from the Reports section. From your WordPress admin dashboard go to Tutor LMS Pro > Reports and click on the Students tab located at the top right corner of the screen.
From here you can check up on all your students. To look at more details of an individual student, click on the “Details” button. This will show you more details about the student. You can see the courses the student is enrolled, the lessons the student has taken, the quizzes the student has attempted, the assignments submitted by the student, reviews, etc.
These are the methods through which you can manage students in Tutor LMS using the Enrollment and Reports addons. The Gradebook addon also shows you students’ course progress.
