Getting Tutor LMS Pro
To get Tutor LMS Pro, you can select any suitable plan from Tutor LMS official website. There are 3 paid plans: Individuals, Freelancers, and Agencies. You can purchase any one of them and you’ll get the entire pro package.
After you download the plugin, access your WordPress dashboard and go to Plugins > Add New > Upload plugin, and then choose the Tutor LMS pro compressed file that you downloaded. Once the plugin is installed and activated, you can now access all the pro features. You can also evaluate your students using the Tutor LMS quiz feature before awarding them certificates.
Enable Certificate addon
You need to enable the certificate addon before you can use the Tutor LMS certificate builder. Go to Tutor LMS > Addons. Then find and enable the Certificate addon.
Install and activate Tutor LMS Certificate Builder addon
The next step is to download Certificate Builder. This is another plugin by Themeum which has to be downloaded separately. Head over to Themeum’s official website and log into your account. You can find the Tutor LMS Certificate Builder plugin in your account’s downloads section.
After the download is complete, install and activate the Tutor LMS Certificate Builder plugin.
Now to access your certificate builder, go to Tutor LMS > Settings > Certificate and click on “Create certificate”.
This will launch Tutor LMS Certificate Builder and you will see a new interface (similar to Canva).
Creating a beautiful course certificate with Tutor LMS Certificate Builder
Now since we’ve got the Tutor LMS certificate builder up and running it’s time to get creative! As soon as you open the builder, you see a bunch of certificate templates. You can select one and get started, or you can select a blank canvas and make it from scratch.
There are 26 certificate templates you can choose from. You can also cycle through the certificate categories from a menu located on the left side of the screen. But we are going to select the blank canvas.
Step 1: Select a blank canvas and name your certificate
From the template selection menu, you can either select a template or create your very own. We want to create a certificate template from scratch. So, we are picking the blank canvas. After selecting the canvas, you will see a new interface.
Here you can see your canvas on the right side and some customization tools on the left side of the screen. On the top, click “Untitled Template” to name your certificate. Give it a name of your choice (you can give your course name here).
Step 2: Select a background
Since your certificate now has a name, it’s time to start actually building your certificate. To start with, let’s choose a background for your certificate. Select ‘Backdrops’ from the left tools option and select any background you like.
Step 3: Insert certificate header
We have our certificate background and our certificate is already looking good. Now let’s insert the certificate header. Go to the Elements tab from the left and select the ‘Text’ option. You will see that a line of text has been added to your certificate body. You can also drag and drop the text element.
Write what you want to be your certificate header. We are writing “Certificate of Completion”. Next, click on the text and you’ll see some customization options on the top of the text element. Here you can choose font family, resize, change color, change the alignment of your text. Customize your text the way you want.
Step 4: Insert some border
This step is only for making your certificate visually appealing. Go to the library from the tools tab, scroll down, and put a border below your header.
You will also find watermarks, badges, illustrations, etc. which you can use to make your certificate look unique. For now, we’ll just stick with a simple border.
It will require a lot of steps if we go through each and every design element one by one. So, to speed things up, we’ve gone ahead and used the above-mentioned steps to create the following design.
Step 5: Insert dynamic data
Notice that the certificate we created has no dynamic data in it. We need to place the name of the student, the name and signature of the instructor, and some other data if it is required. Therefore, from the Elements tab, select and place student’s name and instructor’s name, instructor’s signature, and any other data that you want.
As you can see we’ve inserted all the necessary data along with some extra info. We’ve inserted the grade of the student and a QR code as well. Each certificate will have its own unique verification ID. We’ve also placed that data below the QR code.
Step 6: Publish!
Once you are happy with all the changes, click on publish to save your certificate design. Now the certificate design will be available in the certificate templates section of your course builder. To use this certificate that you just created, edit any course and scroll down. You will find your certificate on the top.
This way, you can create multiple certificate designs and all of those will be added to the certificate template library.

After selecting the template on the course section and publish…..The course will continue to offer the old certificate…. Why?
That is an unusual problem. I would suggest the following:
1. Make sure your Certificate Builder and Tutor LMS are updated to the latest version
2. Check if you have actually saved your changes after selecting your custom certificate
If this doesn’t solve the problem, then email Themeum’s support team at [email protected]
Hello ! How do you add an ID field to the certificate? By default it does not bring that option. *verification id* is found but it is the code of the certificate
Thank you for your question, right now this feature (displaying student ID dynamically) isn’t available in the Tutor LMS Certificate Builder as far as we know. You can suggest this feature on the official website of Themeum so that it might be added in later updates. Thank You.
