WordCamp Europe 2024: A Quick Look Back

Published on June 18, 2024: WordCamp Europe 2024 has concluded after three days packed with excitement. WordCamp Europe is the largest WordPress event in Europe and this was the 12th annual WordCamp Europe event. It took place at the Lingotto Conference and Exhibition Centre in Torino, Italy. 2,584 WordPress enthusiasts gathered from all around the globe to explore and celebrate WordPress.

Like last year, WPGIZ has been an official media partner for WordCamp Europe this year too. We enjoyed every bit of covering the event across our blog and social media pages.

The event was organized and produced by a group of 250 volunteers led by the WordCamp veterans Wendie Huis in ‘t Veld, Juan Hernando, and Takis Bouyouris. It took 8 months of preparation for this amazing event. There were various workshops and presentations from several resource persons.

In this post, we’re looking back at WordCamp Europe 2024. So if you’ve missed the event, don’t worry, at least you can read the summary of WordCamp Europe 2024. Also, we’ll provide its livestream link.

WordCamp Europe 2024: Contributor Day

WordCamp Europe 2024 opened up on June 13th with the Contributor Day. The purpose of Contributor Day is to bring WordPress enthusiasts together to discuss, plan, and conduct tasks related to the WordPress open-source project. This time, 600 contributors worked in 25 teams. They produced some amazing results such as:

  • Translating 31,500 strings across 27 different languages
  • Updating documentation for the upcoming WordPress version 6.6
  • New contributor onboarding for the testing team and support forum
  • Identifying ways to further improve WordPress plugin security

Originally, the WordCamp Europe event started its journey in 2006. Today, WordPress is the most popular and widely used CMS in the World. It wouldn’t have been possible to make this open-source platform so successful if it weren’t for the contributions of so many wonderful people. In WordCamp Europe 2024, like always we’ve seen the contributors’ hard work for improving WordPress.

WordCamp Europe 2024: Conference Days

The next two days after Contributor Day are the conference days. These took place on the 14th and 15th of June. The conference days were also packed with events and various engagements for the participants. Speaker presentations, workshops, etc. are the key attractions of the conference days.
